Content Strategy

Current State Evaluation

Determine which content is working, missing, or can be improved through qualitative and quantitative evaluation of your current web properties and other digital assets. This service starts with customer and/or stakeholder interviews and includes content inventories and competitive evaluations. User research surveys, card sorts and usability testing slot into this category. 

Messaging Strategy Framework
Create your framework for delivering timely, relevant, and on-brand content to your customers across devices and channels. Common activities include persona definitions, journey mapping, story-branding, creating brand and editorial guidelines, and personalization and localization strategies. SEO keyword research is critical at this juncture to ensure that your content is as findable as it is readable. 

Content Creation
An overlap between copywriting and content strategy, this service includes research and creative writing (with SEO components) for brand teams as well as technical writing for product teams (contextual UX copy, user guides, etc.). You'll get webpage or transactional content with compelling CTAs that lead to conversion. 

Content Structure
The technical side of managing content, this service will organize, categorize, and optimize your content based on business rules and user needs. Site maps, content audits, content models, taxonomies, metadata, components, and template mapping all fit into this work stream. 

Content Migration
Moving and tracking legacy content to new systems and platforms is called content migration. This is a technical service with activities that include current state audits, content mapping, gap analysis, and republishing of the content on the new CMS. I work in a variety of CMS environments, but specialize in the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platform.

  • Interview stakeholders and customers, and help facilitate design thinking workshops to uncover top needs and tasks.
  • Run site audits, assessments, gap analysis and heuristic studies to identify opportunities to improve online conversions.

Design & Execution
  • Create user flows and low-fidelity wireframes to communicate content strategies with stakeholders.
  • Work with product designers to create interactions, widgets, and tools that offer an intuitive user experience on desktop and mobile.
  • Collaborate with engineers and executives to manage expectations throughout the digital lifecycle.
